It's not possible to make resizable sprite with bitmap tiling (that's mostly used in the skining softwares as WindowBlinds; in flash it's just stretching3. I'm missing some function to count text sizes and posibility to resize text fields (I'm using scale that is working a little bit with 'system fonts' (fonts that have no shapes defined), but that's not the best solution4. I had some problems to use the resize() function from outside the window object [really strange] so I have to call it from the spr_resizer object that is used to set the right size of the window (because in the "data" action fired from the "content" [should be done when the content-movie is loaded] the content size is sometimes not set yet)5. Bitmaps used in Flash are displaied with first row and column doubled (2pixels used) - probably some bug in Flash, because it's same in the files made in the Macromedia editor as well and is probably done by the smoothing Flash algorithm.
